Tonio - multiracial, different; born in Sicily to an American Black, Apache, Comanche mother, and a Sicilian father, and later moves to the US.Tonio is a precocious, inquisitive child and often finds himself in hilarious (and precarious) situations growing up on a ranch for orphans in Kansas, and has many more adventures elsewhere. At fifteen, Tonio robs a bank (no one would hire him) to buy a bike to get to a popular girl’s party! He’s caught and sent to the state reformatory in Buena Vista. At seventeen, conditionally released, Tonio joins the Navy and becomes a wellrespected combat UDT frogman. Tonio strikes an officer who spat on him and is waiting for the Navy Brass decision regarding his future.Tonio then unknowingly enters a White’s Only bar for a cherry coke. There he fights a man who called him a nigger, and once again is sent to Buena Vista. An unfortunate event, surrounded by racism and jealousy, sends him to the Colorado State Penitentiary to a cell on death row.As the truth comes out and with the help of many, Tonio is released with a full pardon. He goes on to become a Navy Seal and an accomplished 'outrageous' architect who is active in the civil rights movement.Unwind the story of an unexpected life. Tonio’s twists, tumbles and successes will draw you into this fascinating account of a multiracial youth and man finding his way. Tonio’s life is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished even after many mistakes, bad decisions, unfortunate events and hard challenges.Motivated by his own experiences and the desire to make a difference, Tonio felt compelled to share his remarkable story with others. In his books, Tonio offers a profound and inspiring account of his unique and tumultuous journey, highlighting the power of resilience, redemption, and the human capacity for change. Through his poignant words he aims to inspire readers, particularly the young, to believe in their own potential, to find hope in even the darkest of circumstances, and to accept help from others.Anything is possible when terrific people of different colors and races work together, and with the guidance of something greater than us.
