Nature gets to abundance through diversity. In nature more does not equal more of the same, more equals more uniqueness, more differences combined in more, new, and different ways. Nature has ways of managing the differences between creatures who share the same space at the same time. Humans lack this ability. Historically, humans have managed diversity by forcefully eliminating it. When an ecosystem loses its diversity it loses its resilience and collapses into barrenness. Humans are headed to oblivion because we refuse to adopt nature’s ethic and methods for dealing with our differences. The natural, healthy way to manage differences lies dormant within us, placed there by our Creator. Over 365 days, the reader can quietly awaken a natural faculty for dealing with differences, develop the faculty and put it into practice. Natural diversity management skills are realistic, ethical, and practical. When used, these skills create a peaceful sufficient abundance. Natural diversity does not remove the tension between different ways of life, rather it uses and tunes the tension to become something higher and richer than each separate entity left to its own devices. There is constant discovery and surprise on the path to natural diversity. We don’t have the choice of being surprised or not being surprised by what happens in whatever method we use to deal with our differences. The only choice is between bad surprises and good ones. This daily guide steps the reader into a space of mystery in which one is met by God and learns to participate in the stunning wonders of creation itself. No surprise is better than bad surprise. But a life with no surprises is boring, empty, directionless, and meaningless. Good surprise is better than no surprise. Learning how God does diversity is essential to living a life punctuated by good surprises. God’s surprises bear no similarity to the tedious, predictable 'good' surprises produced by human culture. This is life on another level entirely, life as the Creator intended it to be for a conscious, creative species capable of joining the work of creation itself.
