Historias Subterráneas, se compone de nueve cuentos que tienen en común el que transcurren en el Metro de la Ciudad de México y cuentan una historia fantástica. El lenguaje empleado en la mayoría de los relatos está más cerca del reportaje periodístico que de la prosa poética. Las historias son totalmente independientes, tanto en su forma con en su contenido, pero se articulan entre ellas como si cada relato fuera una estación entre túneles que se intercomunican libremente, dentro de un todo que no nos es dado ver en su conjunto, sino siempre fragmentariamente. Así, cada historia es una especie de portal que permite asomarse a algo que es más que ella misma. Existen nexos, a veces insospechados, entre una y otras, y los lectores, al asomarse a ese portal, ven (intuyen) algunas de esas conexiones. Otro elemento que aparece en varios de los cuentos es una buena dosis de irreverencia y sentido del humor. Una de las historias, El ojo de Bertha, ganó el premio Casa de América Latina, de París, en diciembre de 2002.
