Historias para Contar de Este Lado del Río, tomo 2 es una natural evolución de la labor iniciada más de 10 años atrás por Guadalupe Ramos, escritora y periodista mexicana, en que reúne testimonios de individuos que por seguir sus sueños y progresar, determinaron dejar sus países latinoamericanos para establecerse en Estados Unidos. En 2004, la autora creó una columna periodística dedicada a los logros de algunos integrantes de la comunidad latina en Connecticut y en New York. Esta columna sigue hasta la fecha, ha sido publicada en varios periódicos de habla hispana, y la autora ha ido agregando testimonios de New Jersey. El primer tomo de Historias para Contar de Este Lado del Río reúne historias escritas por Ramos entre 2004 y 2011. El segundo tomo se hizo con base en una convocatoria pública que la autora hizo en las redes sociales para que cualquier persona que quisiera contar su historia, lo hiciera.
