Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza wykładu Le gouvernement de soi et des autres wygłoszonego przez Michela Foucaulta w 1983 roku w Collège de France. Autor stara się przedstawić refleksję na temat filozofii jako formy weryfikacji. Polityczna parresia jest formą filozoficznej prawdziwości, która realizuje się w spotkaniu filozofii i polityki. Praca analizuje dwa przestrzenie utworzone w starożytności w celu praktykowania politycznej parresii: pierwszą jest demokratyczne miasto, drugą - dusza księcia. Przechodząc przez analizę tragedii Ion Eurypidesa, w której rozważa się parresia demokratyczna, oraz List VII Platona, w którym rozważa się parresia autokratyczna, dochodzi się do pytania o to, jak pojęcie parresia, które pojawiło się u początków naszej kultury, czyli w starożytnej Grecji, może znaleźć echo w nowoczesności poprzez refleksję nad tekstem Kanta o Aufklärung. Wynikiem jest refleksja nad aktualnością filozofii i jej wkładem w możliwe połączenie rządzenia sobą i innymi.
