Este livro traça a evolução do anglicanismo desde as suas origens em Inglaterra e as várias reviravoltas por que passou até se tornar uma Igreja internacional e universal hoje em dia, particularmente a sua introdução na República Democrática do Congo a partir do Uganda pelo catequista Apolo Kivebulaya, que foi a sua figura de proa. A primeira parte deste livro relata a vida admirável e heróica e o trabalho missionário de Apolo e dos seus companheiros, de 1896 a 1933, ano da morte de Apolo Kivebulaya. O livro faz também uma breve descrição da Igreja Anglicana no Uganda, Burundi e Ruanda, e apresenta a situação geográfica e política da RDCongo, com todas as mudanças políticas que o país sofreu e as guerras intermitentes que influenciaram de uma forma ou de outra, a vida da Igreja e a contribuição das Sociedades Missionárias, das Igrejas estrangeiras e dos parceiros para o desenvolvimento da Igreja Anglicana do Congo, sem esquecer as visitas dos Arcebispos de Cantuária, Chefe Espiritual da Igreja Anglicana em todo o mundo.
