Die Mehrheit der europäischen Kinder und Jugendlichen lebt in einem Umfeld, das durch eine Vielzahl ungesunder und leicht zugänglicher Versuchungen gekennzeichnet ist, die maßgeblich für den dramatischen Anstieg von Übergewicht verantwortlich sind und dieses zu einem der wichtigsten Gesundheitsprobleme in der Europäischen Union machen. Das Ziel des Forschungsprojekts TEMPEST war es, sowohl bestehende als auch neue Anreizsysteme zur Prävention von Übergewicht bei Kindern und Jugendlichen zu analysieren und dabei die Rolle der Selbstregulierungskompetenz (SRC) hervorzuheben. Daher präsentiert dieses Buch die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der portugiesischen Umfrage des internationalen TEMPEST-Projekts, die in Portugal vom Team Aventura Social (http://www.aventurasocial.com/) mit Sitz an der Universität Lissabon und unter der Leitung von Prof. Margarida Gaspar de Matos (PhD) durchgeführt wurde. Das Team Aventura Social hat mehrere Untersuchungen zu Gesundheitsförderung und Sozialverhalten durchgeführt, ist an mehreren internationalen/nationalen Projekten beteiligt (HBSC/WHO; KIDSCREEN/EC; PeerDriveClean/EC; TEMPEST/EC; Leonardo; Socrates; Erasmus; Dream Teens) und arbeitet regelmäßig mit portugiesischen politischen Entscheidungsträgern (Ministerien für Bildung, Gesundheit und Justiz) und den Medien zusammen.
