This book presents a comprehensive study on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application of organic chemosensors for the selective and sensitive detection of environmentally and biologically important metal ions. The research focuses on developing colorimetric and fluorescent molecular probes with high selectivity, rapid response, and excellent sensing performance in aqueous media. Various spectroscopic techniques, including UV-Visible absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy, NMR titration, and mass spectrometry, together with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, have been employed to investigate the sensing mechanisms and host-guest interactions. The book also explores practical applications of the developed chemosensors in real sample analysis, test-strip fabrication demonstrating their potential for environmental monitoring and bioanalytical applications. By integrating synthetic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, spectroscopy, and computational studies, this work provides valuable insights into the rational design of multifunctional chemosensors and serves as a useful reference for researchers, postgraduate students.
