The Heroism of Hannah Duston: Together with the Indian Wars of New England is a historical account of the life and heroic deeds of Hannah Duston, a colonial woman who was captured by Native Americans during the King William’s War in 1697. The book was written by Robert Boodey Caverly and was first published in 1875. The book provides a detailed description of the Indian Wars of New England, including the conflicts between the Native Americans and the colonists, and the capture and enslavement of many colonists during this period. It also focuses on the life of Hannah Duston, who was taken captive along with her newborn baby and several other colonists. The book describes the brutal treatment that Duston and her fellow captives received at the hands of their Native American captors, including the murder of Duston’s baby. The author then goes on to recount Duston’s daring escape and subsequent revenge, in which she and two other captives killed ten of their captors, including six women and children. The Heroism of Hannah Duston: Together with the Indian Wars of New England is a fascinating historical account of a little-known chapter in American history. It provides a detailed and vivid picture of the lives of the colonists and Native Americans during this period, and highlights the bravery and heroism of one remarkable woman. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
