Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724-1803) war ein deutscher Dichter. Er gilt als wichtiger Vertreter der Empfindsamkeit. Klopstock gilt als Begründer der Erlebnisdichtung und des deutschen Irrationalismus. Sein Wirken erstreckte sich über große Teile der Epoche der Aufklärung. In Die Leiden des jungen Werthers zeigt sich Klopstocks Wirkung auf Goethe. Friedrich Klopstock als ein bedeutender Wegbereiter für die Bewegung des Sturm und Drang. Seine Stoffe und Motive stammen aus der Geschichte und Mythologie der alten Deutschen. Religion und Vaterland sind Grundlagen seines Schaffens. Hermanns Schlacht. Ein Bardiet für die Schaubühne ist seine berühmteste Drama.
