Rab is conflicted! He is enjoying the trappings of fame even though it is based on a lie. If that isn’t enough, he now finds himself being fast tracked to sainthood! In Here After the Hotel Euthanasia we follow Rab after he returns to New Scotland from his adventures in the Principality of Villadedino. He and his motley crew of friends had gone to blow up the Hotel Euthanasia, a destination for those who choose to end your life in whatever decadent manner they desire. Instead he had inadvertently blown up a hillside making the greatest archaeological discovery of the century. This satirical tale pokes fun at religion, money, academia, politics, evolution, ecology, life, death and deep-fried food. The magical realist style explores the conflict of fame through deception, using humor to surprise and challenge the reader. The incongruity of morality and dark comedic absurdities are developed through labyrinthine converging parallel storylines. Follow Rab as he becomes a media celebrity, has a contract taken out on his life by jealous academics, befriends an atheist ghost, becomes the focal point for a global religion and ends up saving the world. Oh,and there is a clever monkey, an ameliorating artificial intelligence and a priest who changes his church’s fashion sensibilities. The ebb and flow of chaos and absurdity culminates in the end of civilization as we know it.Here After the Hotel Euthanasia is the sequel to Checking Out of the Hotel Euthanasia.
