Health Promotion in Nursing, now in its fourth edition, addresses the evolving role of nurses in promoting health throughout the entire lifespan, including end of life. It serves to provide students with knowledge on how to become involved in promoting health in themselves and others by using the most current information available.The book is comprised of 22 chapters divided into five sections: Conceptual Foundations and Theoretical Approaches; Factors Influencing Health Promotion; Promoting Health Throughout the Life Cycle; Health-Promotion Strategies and Interventions; and Health-Promotion Concerns. The text employs a holistic approach, organizing content according to domains identified in the previous editions: biological, psychological, social, political, environmental, sexual, spiritual, and technological domains. The robust pedagogy includes Theory Link, Case Studies, Ask Yourself, Learning Activities and Global Highlights features as well as introductory and closing learning aids designed to bolster student comprehension. A link highlighting the social determinants of health (SDOH) has been added to the previous features, thus, demonstrating the association between the SDOH and attainment of optimum health.Key Updates to the Fourth Edition:Contains two brand-new chapters on the social determinants of health (Chapter 5) and on health promotion in the LGBTQIA+ populations (Chapter 15).Incorporates the latest information on health promotion in the wake of recent global events including the COVID-19 pandemic.Highlights the significance of diversity, equity, and health literacy in contemporary nursing practice.See the differences in the Table of Contents between the third and fourth editions.
