The sun was shining brightly on the little pool of water near my veranda, the result of heavy rain in the last few days. I could see small bits of stones glisten in the muddy water like pearls. Looking at them stirred something deep inside my heart, something that has pained me for years, and has left me fatigued and tired. I started to feel lonely. I had no work to keep myself busy since it was a Sunday. 'God', I said to myself, 'A little longer in this little flat without any work is going to choke me till death.' I decided I couldn’t just sit there and let myself drown in a sea of memories - memories which have terrorized me and tortured me so often. I rose, dressed myself in the clothes lying on my bedside, and headed to the bus-stop. I boarded a bus to Alexandra Palace, a fairly short ride from my home.
