Cette étude s’est penchée sur le harcèlement par les pairs et la victimisation chez les jeunes placés hors du foyer familial (OOH) et chez les jeunes lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels et transgenres (LGBT), ainsi que sur la manière dont l’éducation parentale, les relations avec les pairs et le soutien scolaire influencent le fait qu’un jeune soit auteur ou victime de harcèlement. Les participants étaient des lycéens inscrits dans les établissements scolaires du comté de Dane au cours de l’année scolaire 2008-2009. L’échantillon total comptait 16 766 élèves, dont 560 (3 %) se déclaraient en placement hors foyer, 1 539 (9 %) se déclaraient LGBT et 113 (1 %) se déclaraient à la fois en placement hors foyer et LGBT. Les résultats ont montré des niveaux plus élevés de victimisation et d’intimidation sur une période de 30 jours chez les jeunes OOH par rapport aux jeunes non OOH, chez les jeunes LGBT par rapport aux jeunes non LGBT, et chez les jeunes OOH+LGBT par rapport aux jeunes OOH uniquement ou LGBT uniquement. L’impact de l’éducation parentale, des relations avec les pairs et du soutien scolaire sur le harcèlement et la victimisation était similaire pour tous les jeunes ; cependant, les jeunes OOH, LGBT et OOH+LGBT ont fait état de niveaux moyens de soutien positif significativement plus faibles de la part de chacune de ces sources par rapport à leurs homologues non OOH et non LGBT.
