Die Referenztabellen für das Blutbild, die von den Ärzten in unserem Umfeld verwendet werden, sind aus westlichen Studien hervorgegangen. Diese Werte berücksichtigen nicht den Einfluss genetischer und umweltbedingter Faktoren (sozial, wirtschaftlich, beruflich). Ziel der Studie war es, an unser Umfeld angepasste hämatologische Tabellen zu erstellen, um einen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Versorgung der kongolesischen Neugeborenen zu leisten. Das Buch umfasst drei Studien, die alle in 25 medizinischen Einrichtungen in Lubumbashi im Zeitraum von November 2016 bis März 2018 an einer Zufallsstichprobe normaler, voll ausgetragener Neugeborener aus einer eutrophierten Schwangerschaft durchgeführt wurden.
