Hajduci

Kao obavezna skolska lektira, ovaj roman odavno je prevazisao okvire ucionice i postao nezaobilazni deo mnogih kucnih biblioteka, podjednako drag mladim citaocima i starijim generacijama, koje mu se sa osmehom i dozom nostalgije cesto vracaju, prepoznajuci u Nusicevim junacima odjeke sopstvenih detinjih nestasluka.---Hajduci (The Outlaws, 1933) is one of the best-loved classics of Serbian children’s literature, a timeless story of freedom, friendship, and the challenges of growing up, told with Branislav Nusic’s characteristic humor and light-hearted narrative style. The novel follows a group of schoolboys who, burdened by school troubles and poor grades, decide to escape into the countryside and form their own band of hajduks. What begins as an innocent adventure and an attempt to break free from the authority of the adult world soon develops, through a series of comic misunderstandings and lively escapades, into a warm and engaging lesson about friendship, solidarity, courage, and taking responsibility for one’s actions.Nusic’s unmistakable humor, witty dialogue, and gentle irony allow these important lessons to emerge naturally, without heavy-handed moralizing. At the same time, Hajduci celebrates the friendships, small adventures, and carefree moments of childhood that play such an important part in growing up.Long established as required reading in Serbian schools, the novel has transcended the classroom to become a cherished part of generations of family libraries. It continues to delight young readers while inviting older generations to return to its pages with a smile and a touch of nostalgia, recognizing in Nusic’s young heroes echoes of their own childhood mischief.
