For Thomas Raher, 2020 started with a bang. The beginning of a new decade. Then the Coronavirus turned the world inside out. Using the standard haiku format, he noted everything as he sheltered and stared out the window.Raher utilized this strict structure to express his thoughts simply. Sheltering in place was a means to be creative. He captures the many aspects brought on by the virus. His chronology and metaphors illuminate the big picture affecting us all. Although the time frame was a mere three months, he manages to grasp the seismic shifts in society. This work can be read as staccato prose, or the poetry he intended. Also by the author:Letters from a Working Stiff (Lulu Press)Smiling Eyes: Memories of Youth (Lulu Press and Amazon)

    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

I’d like to acknowledge the inspiration for this short book, my mother. When I learned she had terminal cancer, I was truly saddened. Our relationship over my lifetime was distant at times for varied reasons, but as my family grew, I came to realize and understand more clearly the difficulties she suffered. This common ground rekindled and nurtured our bond. It blossomed with h...
