El Taller de Dramaturgia del Teatro Libre fue un proyecto sin términos ni condiciones, abierto y arriesgado, sometido al imperativo del cambio de los tiempos. Se creó en 1975 y tuvo sus épocas de apogeo y de silencio. En unos periodos se escribieron muchas más obras que en otros. Algunas aventajan a otras, pero todas daban cuenta de ese mismo propósito que gira en torno a la creación de una dramaturgia nacional con identidad propia, con autores comprometidos con el oficio, con búsquedas temáticas y estéticas a la altura de las circunstancias sociales, históricas e individuales de la sociedad contemporánea; una dramaturgia que aspira a expresar al ser humano de hoy y su situación particular, a dar cuenta ya de un episodio histórico, de una circunstancia trágica en nuestra realidad azotada por la violencia, o de formular una reflexión política por medio de una aventura personal. Tales son, estos últimos, los temas que abordan los autores presentes en esta antología: Jorge Plata, Eduardo Camacho, Piedad Bonnett, Jairo Aníbal Niño y Esteban Navajas.
