Gulliver of Mars is a science fiction novel written by Edwin L. Arnold. The book tells the story of a man named Lieutenant Gulliver Jones, who is transported to the planet Mars after falling asleep under a tree. On Mars, Gulliver discovers a world filled with strange creatures and new civilizations. He quickly becomes embroiled in a war between two factions, the Hither and the Thither people, and falls in love with a Martian princess named Heru. Gulliver must use his Earthly knowledge and skills to navigate this new world and help bring peace to the warring factions. The book is a classic example of early science fiction and explores themes of adventure, romance, and interplanetary exploration.BEYOND THE FIRST flutter of surprise, the Martians had shown no interest in the abrupt termination of the year’s divinations. They melted away, a trifle more silently perhaps than usual, when I shattered the magic globe, but with their invariable indifference, and having handed the reviving Heru over to some women who led her away, apparently already half forgetful of the things that had just happened, I was left alone on the palace steps. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
