Ce qu’elles veulent d’abord c’est purifier, convertir, exercer une emprise sur les âmes. Il tend à en résulter une diabolisation de l’adversaire et une sacralisation de la violence. Ce diagnostic reste pourtant contesté, voire inaudible. La fin des guerres de religions n’intervient qu’après un lourd tribut de violence et la solution ne vient pas du monde religieux mais de la société civile.
