Granger Pino has found himself in financial dire straits. His desire for a better life leads him to become more and more dependent on his elderly mother. Unable to get a lawful job, he strikes out on his own to sell his knowledge of herbs. His mother Margaret has spent her life saving Granger from his dastardly deeds. She spent most of her money to get him out of prison. She has overlooked his obvious involvement in deaths surrounding those who he did not like. Now that she is old and frail, living in her decrepit old farmhouse, her dependency on him leaves her vulnerable. Margaret has spent her life pitting her two children against one another, playing favorites. Now that they are adults she cannot understand their hostility toward one another. Her adult children live their lives separately with no trust between them. This mother is confused by the hatred she has sown. She believes her son can do no wrong while he takes complete advantage of her. The mother’s blind love and devotion to her son has allowed him to flourish in his evil ways. The daughter must respect her mother’s choice if she wishes to have a relationship with her and care for her. All the while her mother ridicules and condemns her daughter with stern mistrust. In the end, the ugly truth comes to light and is laid bare. Blind love can have devastating results.

Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
