This short story collection has a common thread of women finding their place in this world after leaving or losing a loved one. They are simple stories with topics including abandonment, motherhood, and love affairs amid sickness, death, and sometimes just the circumstances of life. In the title story, 'Grace Untethered' a young woman discovers a long-lost birth mother who is on the brink of death herself. In 'Absence,' a subtle and unknown desire to begin life again surfaces for the protagonist. In 'Bangkok,' a woman searches for the family of her recently deceased mother, and in 'Cake' (nominated for best online short story of the year), a woman decides to take things into her own hands for the sake of her emotional freedom.
