Di conseguenza, Camerun, Gabon, RCA e Ciad hanno richiesto l’assistenza del FMI, attraverso lettere di intenti e in conformità con lo Statuto del FMI, per compensare l’instabilità dei loro quadri macroeconomici. Questa richiesta, che è stata oggetto di molte controversie, solleva interrogativi sulla reale natura dell’intervento del FMI in queste economie.Basato su una metodologia rigorosa, questo studio dimostra che l’azione del Fondo, sebbene influenzata da problemi palesi e latenti e vincolata da fattori interni ed esterni, contribuisce a ripristinare l’equilibrio della bilancia dei pagamenti. Questo contributo viene fornito attraverso il consolidamento finanziario e l’attuazione di misure socio-economiche, politiche e umanitarie.
