Never was the Gospel told me from beginning to end. Mostly it was about me being a sinner, who put Jesus on the cross and needed a prayer to go to Heaven. While Church is the place where the Lord is found. Correct - sort of. The Gospel is far more interesting than that. What really is God’s story? How might the Trinity view the Good News? How, in a struggling world, might I? While reflecting on this dual perspective I began to think again. What I found makes a difference - quite wonderful. When in my twenties I became enthused with God’s Good News and the excitement has never left me since. ’Think you know it, think again’ became the guiding principle of my understanding with many benefits both spiritually and practically. My questions of what personhood really was about were answered with spiritual theology and the Christian mystical tradition being particularly helpful. I have been reading in religion, philosophy and psychology also. Today, I am more convinced than ever of the central importance of the Gospel to our world. In every sense it is primary. The Lord’s Good News is ever relevant. It is kind, full of love and uniquely personal. It enhances personhood and creativity. In my search for truth I understood that for the Gospel to be effective in living it out, it best be rather simple. It is the only way in making success possible. Such simplicity would allow for a concentrated focus on what I would aim to be about. Keep it simple - keep it focused. Though simple, it needed to be a profound way of life and meet the requirements beneficial to psycho-spiritual wellbeing. Furthermore, it should extend mere knowledge and connect with the transcendent. I have always considered myself to be a person with spiritual tendencies. Needless to say, God’s Good News meets all these requirements and more in that it is relational in a unique way. It not merely informs, but helps towards proficiency in what it encourages.

We’ve been duped into removing prayer from the center of our churches and have placed it on the periphery or semi-periphery.  What we’re witnessing today in our churches, and in society at large, is that legacy of prayerlessness.  Church leadership may be hesitant and embarrassed to admit it, but there is a direct correlation between our spiritual weakness and our lack of corpo...

If God is good, why do we get sick? When God created the world, He declared: "It is good." But then came the Fall, and with it sickness and death. In this heart-tugging monograph, Dr. Davis McGuirt draws from both his training in theology and the personal agony of watching his father die from cancer to provide a variety of biblical reasons for why we get sick. We are also remin...

A landscape painter once explained how he had visited a certain view for years to have it absorbed within his soul before putting brush to canvas. Having gained a good feel for the vista, the painting of it came automatically, he said. He just understood the land in his particular way and was able to express that in beautiful paintings with a distinct character.God is like tha...

In 2022 I had a disturbing vision which prompted the writing of this book. ’Let me help you in a fragile world,’ the Lord says. He is asking for his people to come closer into his presence. Intimacy with God is liberating and uniquely personal. It is fully relational and not religious. The Lord is kind, gently guides and never points the finger. He heals the soul, strengthens t...

For thousands of years philosophers and religious thinkers have written about the soul. Hardly surprising, for soul is what human experience is all about. They consider the concept of spirit outdated and s...
