Bedeutet das Ende des Ost-West-Konflikts auch das Ende systemprägender globaler Konfliktlinien? Diese Frage wird anhand der Analyse von sechs Weltkonferenzen - von der UNCED 1992 bis zur Vierten Weltfrauenkonferenz 1995 - untersucht. Kontrastiert werden die empirischen Befunde der Fallstudien mit verschiedenen populären Szenarios internationaler Politik, etwa dem 'Kampf der Kulturen'. Da die aufgefundenen Konfliktlinien keinem dieser Szenarios entsprechen, wird ein eigenes Modell des internationalen Konfliktgeschehens nach dem Ende des Ost-West-Konflikts entworfen. Im Mittelpunkt dieses Modells steht die Gleichzeitigkeit von Entwicklungs- und Koordinationsdilemma, die ebenso wie die analysierten Konfliktlinien bei der künftigen Diskussion von Global Governance berücksichtigt werden sollte.
