Glenmornan is a novel written by Patrick MacGill and published in 1918. The story is set in the fictional village of Glenmornan in rural Ireland, and follows the lives of its inhabitants during the early 20th century. The main character is a young man named Ewan Macartney, who returns to the village after a long absence to discover that his childhood sweetheart, Mary O’Donnell, is now engaged to another man. As Ewan struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Mary and his place in the village, he becomes embroiled in the local politics and social issues that threaten to tear the community apart. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, tradition, and change, and provides a vivid portrait of life in rural Ireland at a time of great social and political upheaval. MacGill’s writing is noted for its lyrical descriptions of the Irish landscape and its characters, and the novel is considered a classic of Irish literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
