L’obiettivo di questo libro è quello di presentare le varie forme di elaborazione ed espressione religiosa dei giovani contemporanei. Tenendo presente che questo momento storico è caratterizzato da una frammentazione, espansione, diffusione e profusione del religioso in tutto il mondo, vediamo che l’epoca attuale è segnata dalla manifestazione di un sincretismo religioso che ci interessa comprendere e indagare. Ciò solleva domande come: qual è il significato di queste diverse manifestazioni religiose? Come giustificano i giovani le loro credenze? In che misura le pratiche religiose sono soggette alle strategie della cultura di massa? In quale contesto le pratiche religiose possono essere intese come modalità di organizzazione sociale con intenzioni politiche definite in termini di collettività? Il nostro interesse non è quello di rispondere a queste domande erigendo una verità definitiva sull’argomento, ma piuttosto di esporre alcune possibili prospettive di comprensione, punti di vista contrastanti che ci aiutano ad ampliare la discussione.
