This book describes real experiences and events that happenedover a half century of long distance running. Some are amusing likewinning a race outright because the front runner ran the wrong way.Others bizarre like running a 5 mile race in a windchill of -50°F. All aredifferent they provide background to an ever changing sport - longdistance running and racing.(Some distance past 4 miles the course came to a T junction,runners had to turn right or left. The correct turn was to the left.As the runner ahead of me reached the junction he slowed downand seemed to waver. There were no volunteers visible nor wasthere a direction sign, at that point I realized he didn’t know whichway to turn.)
