Gianni Schicchi is an opera composed by Giacomo Puccini in 1918. The story is based on an episode from Dante’s Inferno and centers around a wealthy family in Florence, Italy. The patriarch of the family, Buoso Donati, has recently died and his relatives are eager to get their hands on his fortune. They enlist the help of the cunning Gianni Schicchi to impersonate the deceased and rewrite his will in their favor. However, Schicchi has his own agenda and uses the opportunity to gain his own wealth and teach the greedy family a lesson. The opera is known for its comedic elements and features some of Puccini’s most popular music, including the aria ''O mio babbino caro''.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
