Akhtar’s slow tone, balanced and moderate temperament and the passion flowing inside like a deep stream have done justice to this difficult subject, while at the same time giving Urdu poetry a new experience, a different subject and a new concept that is both ancient and modern./اردو شاعری کے موضوع 'گھر آنگن' سے مراد اس گھر کی شاعری ہے جہاں میاں بیوی سکھ دکھ بانٹ کر جیتے ہیں۔ ازدواجی زندگی کے سکھ دکھ، باہمی رفاقت، پیار اور محبت کا گہرا گداز جس سے دنیا کے کروڑوں گھر ایک خوبصورت زندگی سے جگمگاتے ہیں، ایسا موضوع ہے جسے اکثر و بیشتر شاعر اور ادیب نے خاطر میں نہیں لایا اور نہ اسے اپنی شاعری میں کوئی جگہ ہی عطا کی ہے۔ اختر کے دھیمے لہجے، متوازن معتدل مزاج اور گہرے دھارے کی طرح اندر ہی اندر بہنے والے جذبے نے اس مشکل موضوع سے جہاں انصاف کیا ہے وہیں اردو شاعری کو ایک نیا تجربہ، ایک الگ موضوع اور ایک ایسا نیا تصور عطا کیا ہے جو بیک وقت قدیم بھی ہے اور جدید بھی۔
