Football or soccer is more than a sport in Africa, Europe and Asia.The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) began the World Cup championship tournament in 1930 with a 13-team field in Uruguay. Ghana made a debut in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but they were narrowly knocked out by Brazil. Although Ghana did not win the tournament, it is believed that it was the best continental campaign for Africa since Cameroon in 2002. In the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana finished with a bonze. The Black Stars were runners-up at the 1992 Nations Cup held in Senegal, not to mention Ghana’s feat as four-time winners.
