In diesem Buch werden in sich abgeschlossene Lernumgebungen vorgestellt, die direkt im Geometrieunterricht der Sekundarstufen eingesetzt werden können. Gemeinsam ist allen Themen, dass jeweils bewegliche technische Geräte (Anwendungen) aus dem alltäglichen Umfeld betrachtet werden. Dies kann beispielsweise ein Bügelbrett, ein Sportgerät oder eine Bustür sein.Für den Geometrieunterricht besteht noch Bedarf an anwendungsbezogenen Aufgaben, die authentisch sind. Das heißt, dass die aufgeworfenen Problemstellungen nicht lediglich für den Unterricht konstruiert wurden, sondern tatsächliche Voraussetzungen an ein technisches Gerät sind. Derartige Problemstellungen wirken motivationsfördernd: Die Lernenden nehmen Geometrie als für ihre Lebenswelt relevant wahr. Durch die Auseinandersetzung mit den Aufgaben entwickeln die Schülerinnen und Schüler ihr Geometrieverständnis weiter. Zusätzlich eröffnen die Lernumgebungen einen Zugang zum Themenfeld Technik von der Mathematik aus. Ergänzt werden die Lernumgebungen jeweils durch einen kurzen mathematisch-didaktischen Kommentar.Zielgruppe sind Lehramtsstudierende sowie Mathematiklehrerinnen und -lehrer der Sekundarstufen, die realitätsnahe Anwendungen in ihren Geometrieunterricht einbringen möchten. Aufgrund des technischen Bezugs aller zu untersuchenden Anwendungen richtet sich das Werk daneben noch an Studierende und Lehrpersonen in anderen MINT-Fächern.
