Genism is a materialistic philosophy based on neo-Darwinism, which aims to maximize human happiness. Being materialistic, Genism does not assume any kind of metaphysical entity to construct its theoretical framework, and being neo-Darwinist, it understands living beings as 'gene-perpetuating machines': Every living organism is the result of a process of billions of years of evolution by natural selection, and today only the descendants of those who managed to perpetuate their genes exist, and therefore must also possess this characteristic. Genism also takes this intrinsic biological characteristic of organisms as a cultural goal. This prevents harmful memes from repressing our basic biological intent and generating unhappiness. It is very important to keep in mind that our genes are not only in our bodies, but also shared, to a greater or lesser extent, among all living beings on the planet. Thus, preserving life is preserving our own immortality; helping others is also helping ourselves.
