Das Gründungsideal der amerikanischen Gesellschaft beruht auf der Tatsache, dass die Besonderheit der amerikanischen Nation aus der Vermischung verschiedener Ethnien zu einer Nation namens Americans resultiert. Die Diskussion zeitgenössischer chinesisch-amerikanischer Romane legt nahe, dass gemischtrassige Beziehungen in der amerikanischen Gesellschaft eher auf Abstammung als auf dem Einverständnis des Einzelnen beruhen. Daher zielt diese Arbeit darauf ab, zeitgenössische Romane chinesisch-amerikanischer Autoren vor dem theoretischen Hintergrund von Werner Sollors Definitionen von Zustimmung und Abstammung sowie der von Mchael Omi und Howard Winant vorgestellten Idee der Rassenbildung zu untersuchen. Abschließend hoffen wir, dass diese Arbeit einen Beitrag zu künftigen wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten über gemischtrassige Studien leisten wird.
