When cracks appear across the central Australian desert, US General John Cobb discovers it marks the return of The Great Old Ones, the Elder Gods, and they are coming to take their rightful place on Earth. Cobb calls in two experts, Australian analyst, Sergeant Emerson James Ash and British Canadian archaeologist, Colonel Andrew Stone to help neutralise the threat. Eventually, they join forces and travel through time and multiverses in order to try and save humanity, only to find that humans are a blip on the Cthulhu timeline that needs extinguishing.
