O gaslighting é uma forma dissimulada de abuso psicológico, cujo nome provém de um filme de 1944 em que uma mulher é levada a questionar a sua sanidade mental para que o marido lhe possa roubar as jóias. Com a legislação sobre assédio moral no local de trabalho a tornar-se mais provável, os agressores encontrarão formas mais dissimuladas de controlar o seu próprio ambiente de trabalho. Este livro analisa o que é o gaslighting para a vítima e define as caraterísticas críticas presentes no gaslighting. Este livro também examina teoricamente porque é que os agressores podem estar a utilizar este estilo de abuso. Esta pesquisa conclui que o gaslighting ocorre como um mecanismo de defesa para aqueles que pertencem a dimensões culturais de alto poder, alto individualismo e assertividade. Por fim, do ponto de vista da gestão, estruturas como as dimensões culturais foram implicadas na prevenção e na intervenção quando o gaslighting foi identificado.
