El propósito de este libro es brindar a estudiantes que se inician en el estudio de la física en los programas de ingeniería un compendio de definiciones y teoría en los campos de la electrostática y magnetostática que les ayude a reducir el tiempo de transición entre la conceptualización de los contenidos proporcionados por el profesor y su aplicación adecuada a algunas situaciones reales. Cada capítulo inicia con una breve introducción que ayuda al estudiante, mediante actividades de autoevaluación y repaso, a valorar la importancia del tema abordado. También se le da especial importancia a la selección de los problemas y a la explicación detallada de sus soluciones, para lo cual al final de cada sección se incluyen una serie de ejercicios resueltos y propuestos relacionados con los temas tratados.
