This work is the product of a master’s thesis in the area of Ethics and Political Philosophy, which aims to demonstrate the relationship between the Hegelian concepts of Freedom, State and Religion. The theme of freedom runs through every moment of Hegel’s philosophy, and it is with the aim of achieving effective, full, realized freedom that the presence of the state is necessary, the ultimate ethical substance that enables effective recognition between men, since, before the state, men have equal rights and duties. State and religion must go hand in hand, respecting their differences, and each must develop in its own sphere. Religion’s duty is to strengthen and support the state. Religion also makes it possible to achieve effective freedom; according to Hegel, this moment is possible with Christianity.
