Hanan Badr vergleicht die medialen Terrorismusdiskurse in Deutschland und Ägypten mittels einer Framinganalyse. Die Autorin greift in ihrer Studie auf kommunikations- und politikwissenschaftliche Theorien zurück und erläutert anhand eines umfangreichen Mediensamples die Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten in der Berichterstattung über Terrorismus im israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikt. Die Ergebnisse deuten auf eine sehr unterschiedliche Wahrnehmung von Terrorismus im Westen und der arabischen Welt hin. Die Untersuchungszeitpunkte fokussieren den Beginn des Osloer Friedensprozesses in den frühen 1990er Jahren und die zweite Intifada in den frühen 2000er Jahren. Die Autorin arbeitet den Diskurs sowohl zum Untergrund- als auch zum Staatsterrorismus heraus und deutet die Forschungsergebnisse im Rahmen der kritischen Terrorismusforschung und Theorien aus der Kommunikationswissenschaft.
