For Rectitude and Glory follows the journey of Jamel Frederick, the top-rated amateur middleweight in the world, from the deadly streets of Overtown to the Olympic boxing tournament in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Boxing is JamelÕs escape from the violence and poverty that plagues his neighborhood. After enduring a tragic loss, Jamel joins his team for training camp where heÕs expected to be a leader. There, he is reunited with his estranged father, Orlando Frederick, who was selected to be the head coach of the team. The team is comprised of a unique ensemble of individual fighters from different backgrounds. The streets eventually follow Jamel to training camp and threaten to ruin everything. The only thing that can help Jamel is the team. They rally around him, live, and train like champions. Together, they march forward into the Olympics to fulfill the worldÕs expectations and be placed among the greatest boxing teams in history.
