For His People is a historical book that tells the true story of Sogoro, a Japanese samurai who made a great sacrifice for his people. The original Japanese version of the book is entitled The Cherry Blossoms of a Spring Moon and was written by Hayashi Tadasu in 1903. Sogoro, a loyal samurai, was faced with a difficult decision when his daimyo ordered him to execute innocent villagers. Sogoro refused to carry out the order, knowing that it would be a grave injustice. As a result, he was forced to choose between his loyalty to his daimyo and his duty to protect the innocent. Sogoro ultimately chose to sacrifice his own life to save the lives of the innocent villagers. The book portrays Sogoro as a hero who was willing to stand up for what he believed in, even if it meant going against his own daimyo.
