A dramatic mystery unfolds as a backwoods crime cover-up turns into a major Government conspiracy starting with a single event; a rotting corpse that washes over the massive Fontana Dam in the mountains of North Carolina. Suddenly a covert organization, hidden from existence since the 1940’s erupts into action to eliminate all traces of this past mistake.SYNOPSIS: The genesis of the event involves a clandestine Government conspiracy from the Great Dam’s pre-construction days in 1942. Now, the National News Media is on alert as an aggressive young Local Reporter, Trish Freeman, attempts to expose the background story, revealing the dangerous secret behind the corpse. Spurred into action, Jack Wolcott, an Iraq War assassin and his team of murderous operatives attached to a super secret covert agency called ALSOS, begin a process of elimination of any person that could expose decades of cover-up including Trish. As the action evolves, Trish follows the leads as DNA identifies the rotting corpse as a Cherokee Indian Shaman that became an engineer in his early years and discovered a massive gold strike in the River Valley of Old Fontana, now hidden hundreds of feet below the great lake held back by the Dam. Trish investigates and finds that the Shaman’s Plan was to reveal the Valley’s Hidden Secret and set off a Gold Rush to drain the limited wartime manpower available for working on the Dam, and thus restore control of the Valley to the Qualla Indian Nation. But this clandestine Government Agency rushed in to prevent this from happening by sending an assassin squad with high tech weapons to eliminate the problem. The Indian disappeared, until this Event revealed his body as well as facts about the highly advanced explosive bullets that were used to eliminate him in 1942. Bullets that were not available to even the most specialized military units, until the 1960’s. This Clandestine Government Agency was called, ALSOS, and the General that developed and controlled it, used it to protect the secrets of the Manhattan Project. He personally sanctioned the building of AEC Power Plant Projects to build Nuclear Bombs and construct the Massive Wartime Power Project, Fontana Dam. Now he’s dead, yet his legacy lives on without any Government oversight of his Covert Organization. ii. But they never counted on one of their own going Rogue, as Jack Wolcott breaks from protocol after realizing who he has to kill. With years of service in ALSOS as their top Middle East expert, always following their rigid orders for assassination assignments, Wolcott refuses to complete his kill orders to eliminate the beautiful female reporter, Trish Freeman, that’s exposing their secret legacy.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present.
