Este segundo volumen de la Fonología variable del español de México está dedicado a la prosodia enunciativa. Lejos de agotar los problemas, el libro aborda las cuestiones generales (cap. 1) y las interficies con los actos de habla (cap. 2), la estructura informativa (caps. 3 y 4) y la sintaxis (cap. 5); el tomo 1 recogía los primeros tres capítulos; este tomo 2, los dos últimos.La prosodia enunciativa, objeto de esta segunda entrega, refiere a aquellos procesos fónicos que ocurren por encima de la palabra prosódica como límite inferior y por abajo del enunciado como límite superior. La cantidad de trabajos publicados sobre la entonación del español en los últimos quince o veinte años es abrumadora y la variedad mexicana no es ajena a esa interesante circunstancia. En la medida de lo posible, este libro enfatiza el interés de emplear datos obtenidos en contextos razonablemente espontáneos y naturales, así como la atención que merece la variación y el cambio presentes en comunidades de habla específicas.
