It is the summer of 1968. In the small farming community of Willow Creek, Iowa, the Mitchell family, who lives on a small farm, is still trying to cope with their loss. The oldest son (Brian) was killed in Vietnam. The youngest daughter (Becky), unable to share her grief with the rest of the family, has run away from home. The family now believes she is living in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. The oldest daughter (Melissa) is determined to find her sister and bring her back home. Her youngest brother (Wesley) likes the idea. Her mother (Audrey) doesn’t want her to go, and Audrey’s father (Grandpa) does his best to agree with everyone.
