Questo libro descrive uno studio su due gravi problemi ambientali, i filtri di sigarette di contrabbando e i coloranti dell’industria tessile. Lo studio ha immobilizzato ioni ferrici in filtri di sigarette di contrabbando con l’obiettivo di sviluppare un nuovo materiale che fungesse da catalizzatore nella degradazione del colorante Reactive Black 5 attraverso il processo ossidativo avanzato di foto-Fenton. La caratterizzazione del materiale ha mostrato che il ferro è immobilizzato in modo omogeneo sulla sua superficie e che la sua struttura non viene modificata dopo l’uso in varie degradazioni del colorante. Il materiale ha mostrato prestazioni eccellenti, degradando il 97,68% del colorante in 60 minuti di reazione. Il materiale è stato riutilizzato in 9 degradazioni di coloranti, dimostrando un eccellente potenziale catalitico e la quantità di ioni ferrici lisciviati era inferiore a 3 mg L1. Il materiale è stato testato anche nella degradazione di un effluente reale, riducendo il 70,57% del carbonio organico totale in 120 minuti di reazione.
