These persons shall not return to live in Turkey or Greece respectively without the authorisation of the Turkish Government or of the Greek Government respectively.' (Convention concerning the exchange of Greek and Turkish populations 1923: Article 1) Diese Worte legen den Grundstein für die grösste ethnische Säuberung in der griechisch-türkischen Geschichte. Es wurden ca. 1.5 Millionen Menschen ihrer Heimat entwurzelt und in ein neues Leben zwangsverschifft. Die vorgenannten Worte sind der Grund für tausende persönliche Schicksale. Dieser Bevölkerungsaustausch steht im Zentrum der vorliegenden Arbeit.
