Fifty Confessions reveals author Paul Kiritsis’s personal confessions and deepest thoughts in the form of modern, free verse poetry. For more than a decade, Kiritsis has been studying, writing about, and trying to capture the subtler, less tangible aspects of the human experience. In this collection of more than fifty poems, he displays his passion for mythology and history. This offering, Kiritsis’s third book, is arranged in six sections, which include The Ancient Enemy, Behold My Wrath, Actions and Reactions, In the Aftermath, Myths and Ruminations, and The Savage Past. The poems showcase the author’s mastery of the English language. In 'Shooting Star,' he writes: When a little spark from the night sky / Plummets from the canopy of stars above, / Somewhere, someplace, / A being of light has been born. / So make certain you light a candle, / And make a heartfelt wish / That it never be touched by the darkness / Of what it’s like to feel completely alone / In a world void / Of both heartfelt light and heaven.

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
