Every year I write a Christmas poem for a chosen few of my relatives and friends. This book is a compilation of all the poems I wrote from 2003 to 2018 plus a selection of stories about Christmas, musical instruments used in the parranda (Christmas music), a little nostalgia about how Trinidadians celebrate Christmas, and a synopsis about the Christmas music we know as parang (parranda). 3

With prejudicial eyes we sometimes look at a landscape and make judgments about the place. I am sure that many people look at Adventist Street and surmise that this strip of land is like any other in Trinidad. Surely they will question whether such a place could have given birth to anything good. Adventist Street, what does it really connote? Yes, it is an actual street in Sang...
