Ständig wachsende Anforderungen an Produktivität, Flexibilität und Qualität prägen in verstärktem Maße den Formenbau. Der Einsatz sogenannter 'Freiformflächen-Modellierer' bei der Konstruktion von Formteilen an Werkzeugen erlaubt Verbesserungen bei der CAD/CAM-Verfahrenskette im Formenbau. Diese Publikation zeigt Lösungsmöglichkeiten auf, um die beim Konstruktionsprozeß entstehenden Flächenverbände von Freiformflächen fertigungstechnisch orientiert aufzubereiten und für die Programmierung von 2 1/2- bis 5-Achsen-NC-Fräsbearbeitung bereitzustellen. Anforderungen an das Werstückmodell ergeben sich durch geometrische und topologische Bedingungen sowie aufgrund technologischer Kriterien. Das entsprechende Informationsmodell umfaßt Informationsstruktur, Daten und Algorithmen zum Aufbereiten des fertigungstechnisch orientierten Werkstückmodells und zum Ermitteln der Fräserführung über Leitflächen. Abschließend wird das Programmiersystem für die Programmierung von 2 1/2- bis 5-Achsen-NC-Fräsaufgaben insgesamt d.h. die Verknüpfung bereits länger bestehender Funktionsbausteine mit den neu entwickelten Modulen, betrachtet und sein Einsatz bewertet.
