In this publication, the author addresses the image of Faust in Russian culture. The uniqueness of Faust’s image lies in the fact that it allows us to talk about culture from different perspectives: poetic, political, and aesthetic. The Faustian type of culture refers to methodological approaches that allow us to view human history from a cyclical perspective. The civilisational process is represented by cross-sections of socio-cultural interaction: retrospective - exchange of values, introspective - construction of differences, futuristic - long-term vision of socio-cultural dynamics.
